"Seal With a Kiss"
is an exploration of the double-edged sword of memory.
It is the story of Zach, a man who is trapped at the juncture
between past and present, loss and regret. His journey
through the bands of memory, of lost love, of choices not
made, lead him to realize that staying locked in the past can
be a prison. He discovers that the joy of living life is
a gift.

Saturday
April 9, 2005 - A Kiss for Originality
Here's
something unexpected: a tap-dance drama set to the music of
pop artist Seal. That's right, local hoofer Mark
Goodman, founder and artistic director of the Mark Goodman
Dance Company, is debuting his new work, Seal with a Kiss,
tonight only. In the spirit of the Billy Joel/Twyla
Tharp production Moving Out, Goodman stars as a man "playing
with fire and not getting burned," as he struggles between two
women and shows how tap dancing can portray emotion in ways
you'd never think possible. Goodman has worked with
Savion Glover and the late Gregory Hines, but this show will
surely set him apart. |

"The Mark Goodman Tap Company Presents World Tap" Saturday and Sunday June 2nd and 3rd, 2001 At the El Portal Theatre North Hollywood, CA. "World Tap was conceived after a long trip "down-under" where I realized that every culture has it's own beat, energy and pace. It is essentially a limitless quest, for nearly every corner of our world boasts its own native instruments and rituals. It is our great diversity that connects us." -- Mark Goodman

"Mark Goodman Tap Company Presents World Tap"
North Hollywood, Calif. -- Great rhythm, great fun and great tap dancing explode on stage when "Mark Goodman Tap Company Presents World Tap" debuts on Saturday and Sunday June 2-3 at 8pm at The El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood. The show features the fast-flying footwork of tap sensation Mark Goodman with Tango virtuosos, a trio of jump-roping tapsters, Japanese Taiko Drums, an Australian
Didgeridoo and even an Opera Diva.
In "World Tap," Goodman weaves his signature acrobatic choreography and sense of humor into an engaging storyline that has him "traveling" the world in search of original
rhythms and movement. From Australia to Japan to Argentina to New York, Mark shows off his choreographic versatility during
rhythmic interplay with Taiko Drums, the Didgeridoo, guitar and piano as musicians join him on stage to perform original compositions set to cultural beat of the countries he visits.
Other pieces in the show give Goodman the opportunity to present his comedic style, lightly joking with the audience while his feet fly. Dancers Jennifer Dewall, Marissa Gutierrez, Jennifer Zabel and 12 others add their talents to the eclectic mix of technique, movement, fancy footwork and props -- from stairs to jump ropes.
Trained in New York with American Tap Dance Orchestra's Brenda Bufalino, Goodman went on to work with Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Charles "Honi" Coles and Buster Brown. Hines, Coles, and the great movie hoofers were his great influences. Goodman has performed with dance troupes and as a soloist nationally and internationally, including performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the Delacourt Theater at
Central Park. In 1995, Goodman moved to Van Nuys, where he teaches master classes and where the Mark Goodman Tap Company is based.
